Microsoft Expression 4 Encoder failed to properly initialize. Audio recording disabled

Follow

Summary

When you try to record audio in a DyKnow Vision Session, you receive the message "Microsoft Expression 4 Encoder failed to properly initialize. Audio recording disabled."

Solution

  1. Make sure you have Microsoft Expression 4 Service Pack 1 or Service Pack 2 installed. Earlier versions of Microsoft Expression prior to Service Pack 1 will not work.
  2. Update your audio drivers to the latest version. You should be able to find updates on your computer manufacturer's website.

My audio drivers are current. What do you suggest I try next?

    Hi Kevin,

This article is specific to a specific issue we found with older audio drivers. I would additionally verify you are using the latest version of Expression 4 Encoder. If that still does not resolve the issue send logs to DyKnow support.

The latest version of Expression encoder didn't work. I had to download the version from a link that support gave me.
