It is not necessary to alter the default settings for the SQL Server 2012 installation except for the options noted in this document. However, other settings may be changed to conform to your institution’s server setup guidelines or policies. Consult a DBA or server administrator at your institution for guidance.

    1. On the Feature Selection dialog, only Instance Features: Database Engine Services and Shared Features: Management Tools – Basic and Complete need to be checked for the DyKnow server system. Other components can be installed as necessary.
    2. On the Server Configuration dialog, within the Service Accounts tab, the supported accounts are NT Authority\System, NT Authority\Network Service, or NT Service\SQLSERVERAGENT and NT Service\MSSQLSERVER accounts. The use of a domain account or other account than these default accounts is not currently supported. SQL Server Agent should be set to Automatic Startup Type.
    3. On the Collation tab under Server Configuration, make sure SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS is set as the database engine.
    4. For compatibility with the DyKnow server system, you must choose Mixed Mode authentication within the Database Engine Configuration dialogue within the Server Configuration tab. Be sure to provide a System Administrator (SA) password for the SA account.
