Once the server meets specifications and the prerequisites are complete, you are ready to install the DyKnow database server. As described in the DyKnow server system installation types, the database server and application server can be installed on the same PC or on separate PCs. SQL Server 2005 or SQL Server 2008 must be installed on the PC on which you are installing the database server. This step should be completed for combined and database server installations.

This folder will contain the database containing all DyKnow system and user data and should be located on a drive with adequate available storage space per the requirements in the pre-installation checklist. Click Next.
(You should be able to leave the default value of (Local) as this installation should only be run on the PC with SQL Server 2005 or SQL Server 2008 that will be used for your DyKnow installation.) Choose Windows authentication if the account you are logged in with has permission to create a new database. Otherwise, choose SQL Server authentication and enter your SA username and password into the fields provided. Click Next.
These will be provided to you in the welcome email from your Sales representative when you purchase the DyKnow server system. Enter the appropriate domain name for your school or department in your school that the DyKnow system will be servicing. Enter the common name of your school or department in your school that the DyKnow system will be servicing. Click Next.
The defaults for the Advanced Features should be accepted in most installations. Only change these values if you have been instructed to do so or if you are an experienced database administrator that needs to make changes to accommodate your existing environment. Click Next.
Click Next to start the installation.
Click Finish to complete the installation.
