DyKnow Cloud: Installing App on iPad + Enabling Kiosk / Guided Access

For a teacher to monitor and control student iPads, the student needs to have an use the DyKnow app which is a secure web browser.

Due to Apple's iOS limitations, an MDM is required to lock students into our app ("Kiosk / Guided Access").

  1. Open the App Store on a student iPad
  2. Search for "DyKnow Cloud"
  3. Install the App
  4. Have the student login using their Username, Password, and Customer Vanity (one time unless iPad is shared resource)
  5. When active, our app on student iPads can now be shown as thumbnails for DyKnow Cloud teachers
  1. Configure devices for Supervision
    1. Device Enrollment Program (recommended, requires Airwatch account to view)
    2. Apple Configurator (alternative, requires Airwatch account to view)
  2. Confirm devices are Supervised
    1. Navigate to the Airwatch Console
    2. Select Devices
    3. Select List View
    4. Select a Device
    5. The details view should should callout supervision explicitly as shown below
  3. Configure DyKnow for Autonomous Single App Mode
    1. Navigate to the Airwatch Console
    2. Select Devices
    3. Select Profiles
    4. Select Add Profile
    5. Select iOS
    6. Select Single App Mode
    7. Select Permitted apps
    8. Enter Application Bundle ID com.dyknow.monitor
    9. Click Save and Publish

    1. Navigate to the Casper Suite JAMF Console
    2. Select Mobile Devices
    3. Search for a Device
    4. Select a Device
    5. The details view should should callout supervision explicitly as shown below
  3. Configure DyKnow for Autonomous Single App Mode
    1. Navigate to the Casper Suite JAMF Console
    2. Select Mobile Devices
    3. Select Configuration Profiles
    4. Select + New to add a Profile
    5. Give the Profile a Name for Example: DyKnow Kiosk
    6. Select Restrictions
    7. Select Configure Restrictions
    8. Select Applications tab
    9. At the bottom of the Applications tab find Autonomous Single App Mode apps (supervised only)
    10. Select + New
    11. Enter Bundle ID com.dyknow.monitor
    12. Select Save to Save the Bundle ID
    13. Modify the Scope to specify which students/devices should receive this profile
    14. Click Save to save the Profile
