DyKnow Cloud: Pull Logs Remotely as Admin

Follow

The best way for the DyKnow team to track down a DyKnow Cloud issue or question is for DyKnow Support to see logs from a student device. If you are a DyKnow school admin with a push tool, you can now pull logs remotely in 15 seconds as opposed to tracking down a student in the classroom!

How to Remotely Get Logs From PCs

  1. Use the tool of your choice to remotely run a command on the PC you want to send logs (i.e. PSEXEC, GPO, SCCM, etc.)
  2. Target the student device(s) by specifying the username or hostname
  3. Send the following command to the target computer:

    "c:\Program Files\DyKnow\Cloud\DyKnowLogSender.exe" -vanity "YOURSCHOOL" -notes "WHATHAPPENED&WHEN"

Replace YOURSCHOOL with your DyKnow vanity and replace WHATHAPPENED&WHEN with a description of the problem and the time that it occurred.
  4. DyKnow Support will contact you with the ticket number and what we see

How to Remotely Get Logs From Macs

  1. Use the tool of your choice to remotely run a script on the Mac you want to send logs (i.e. Filewave, Casper, Airwatch, ARD, etc.)
  2. Target the student device(s) by specifying the username or hostname
  3. Send the following command to the target computer:

    /Applications/DyKnowLogSender.app/Contents/MacOS/DyKnowLogSender -vanity "YOURSCHOOL" -notes "WHATHAPPENED&WHEN"

Replace YOURSCHOOL with your DyKnow vanity and replace WHATHAPPENED&WHEN with a description of the problem and the time that it occurred.
